Your contribution helps fund training events for Idaho journalists throughout the state. Newsrooms across the country are struggling with budgets, especially in rural states, and we work hard to keep our professional development sessions free for attendees and help with travel costs when we can. At these sessions, reporters learn about Idaho public records and open meeting laws, as well as how to challenge violations.

Unfortunately, in Idaho, the only way to formally challenge a public records violation is through the courts. While we're successful in clearing up most misunderstandings with phone calls and conversations, sometimes, litigation is necessary. The Idaho Press Club has successfully sued over public records twice since 2019, but because lawsuits are expensive, we've had to let other violations go unchallenged.
